High Country Muley
Odocoileus hemionus · alpine archery & rifle
The High Country Muley done right.
A hand-built 7-day rifle hunt for mule deer, four generations of Montana outfitting behind every tag.
You'll hunt out of a wall-tent spike camp set deep in the wilderness, up before light, ambushing benches above the timberline the way it's meant to be done. One guide stays with you the whole hunt. We won't promise a kill — no honest outfitter can — but we will promise hard, fair effort and the best ground we have.
Odocoileus hemionus

For most mule deer hunts here you'll need a Montana nonresident license and the right buck tag (Draw or Leftover for this unit, HD 580). We walk you through the entire draw and application process and tell you exactly what to apply for and when, so you're never guessing and never out of compliance in the field.
This is a backcountry hunt at altitude — expect several miles a day on steep, uneven ground between 3,700 and 8,700 feet. You don't need to be an athlete, but you should be comfortable hiking with a daypack. Tell us honestly where you're at and we'll set a pace that fits.
Across the last three seasons our hunters have had a shot opportunity on a mature buck 91% of the time. We won't promise a kill — no honest outfitter will — but we will promise hard, fair effort on the best ground we have in the Crazy Mountains.
Yes. We welcome non-hunting companions in camp at a reduced rate, including meals and lodging. Just let us know when you book so we can plan stock, bunks and meals accordingly.
Plans change and weather turns. Reach us with reasonable notice and we'll work with you to reschedule or refund. We'll always tell you straight what your options are before anything is locked in.
