Spring Bear
Ursus americanus · spring spot-and-stalk
Where the big boars still live.
A hand-built 6-day spring spot-and-stalk hunt for black bear, four generations of Montana outfitting behind every tag.
Days start in the dark and end at comfortable base camp, glassing green avalanche chutes at last light with your guide. Expect to earn it. The reward is a fair-chase boar in country that still feels wild, with meltwater roaring in the creek bottom to mark the morning.

For most black bear hunts here you'll need a Montana nonresident license and the right boar tag (Limited-Draw for this unit, HD 270). We walk you through the entire draw and application process and tell you exactly what to apply for and when, so you're never guessing and never out of compliance in the field.
You should be comfortable walking several miles a day over uneven ground, but this is not a brutal climb. Tell us honestly where you're at and we'll match the country and the pace to your ability.
Across the last three seasons our hunters have had a shot opportunity on a mature boar 89% of the time. We won't promise a kill — no honest outfitter will — but we will promise hard, fair effort on the best ground we have in the Bitterroot Mountains.
Yes. We welcome non-hunting companions in camp at a reduced rate, including meals and lodging. Just let us know when you book so we can plan stock, bunks and meals accordingly.
Plans change and weather turns. Reach us with reasonable notice and we'll work with you to reschedule or refund. We'll always tell you straight what your options are before anything is locked in.
